What you need to hire

Please remember to bring your photo card driving licence. Without the photo card there will always be a charge.

There is a charge of £5 for us checking your licence, we are charged by DVLA for this service. The only way to avoid this charge is to have your summary PRINTED on A4 paper in the exact format as below.

Please also note we can only check your licence with the driver present and between the hours of 8.30 to 5.30 Monday to Friday and 8.30 to 2pm on Saturday, DVLA are closed outside these hours and are closed on Bank Holidays. 

You also need 2 forms of ID


Due to the changes made on the 8th June 2015 the paper counterpart to the licence is no longer valid.

You are able to print licence details at home from https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence

You then need to Share your licence information, from this page you click the button marked Create a code the next page will give you a check code from here you should choose:

View, print or save your licence licence information

You must then print the prepared PDF and bring this with you when you collect the vehicle, DVLA have now changed the validity period for the check, the code is now valid for 21 days. This should look as the image at the bottom of this page.

The above options are the only available to prevent a DVLA admin charge being made.

All the options below will incur an admin charge of £5.00

We can check your licence information directly with DVLA by phone when you are in the office, this is only available with DVLA 8am to 7pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am to 2.00pm on Saturday

Outside of these hours we are able to arrange a check in the office you will need your NI Number in order to do this, if you do not know your NI Number we are unable to assist with the check.

If you do not have internet access then you can call DVLA on 0300 083 0013 to obtain a check code, the code is now valid for 21 days.
